We were excited to be asked by the production company of The Great British Sewing Bee to conduct antiviral fogging, both on and off set, throughout the filming of the new series.
The popular show swapped locations for the 2022 series from London to the famous woollen mill, Sunny Bank Mills, in Farsley on the outskirts of Leeds. Show judge Patrick Grant said the move to the north was fitting given the region’s rich textiles history: "Leeds is at the heart of the wool and textile industry so it feels appropriate to film in a great big spinning mill."
The work at the mill was commissioned by Love Productions, the UK-based independent production company behind hits such as The Great British Bake Off and The Great Pottery Throw Down. While we have been keen to share the news with our customers, we could not announce the show’s new location until the first episode aired last month.
We asked our contact, Production Coordinator, Suzy Tobias for feedback on the fogging work we carried out during the filming of the series. She told us:
“Sharon and Mark were a joy to work with. They were very swift at answering queries and sending over the thorough documentation we required to ensure the smooth running of our production.”
With filming conducted during the pandemic, Love Productions called upon our antiviral fogging services to ensure that all models, contestants and staff were kept safe. A special formula ensures that virus transmission from human to human is drastically reduced, while the process is also guaranteed to kill viruses, including Coronavirus, Flu, Measles and Hepatitis, on all surfaces.
The fogging process eliminates all pathogens by blasting a fog of fine mist into the air, which then settles on all surfaces, including carpets, soft fabrics and walls. Ideal for cleaning hard-to-reach areas, the mist can also remain in the air for long enough to kill airborne viral and bacterial contamination.
The effects of the treatment can last for up to eight weeks and ensures that 99.9% of pathogens are eliminated within seconds. Once the process has been completed, the premises must be emptied for at least one hour, but as Suzy explains, our team could easily adapt to the show’s filming schedule.
“Our job was a slightly unique one as it revolved around a busy filming schedule and multiple locations, but the team were super friendly and responsive to all our (often last minute) requests.”
“They were always very punctual and professional, and we felt confident that the work they were doing was of a high standard. Thanks again!”
We hope that this will be the first of many small-screen projects for the company, whether administering our fogging treatment, odour removal or stain removal services. We are looking forward to viewing the remainder of the series, which is currently broadcast on BBC One on Wednesday evenings.
